Popular family-owned Caribbean restaurant is looking for a head chef with experience cooking Jamaican style foods. The ideal candidate would have experience working in a commercial kitchen in a team environment. Experience cooking soul foods is a plus, as we are looking to expand our menu to include soul food items in the near future. We are looking for someone who can keep making the dishes that our customers have come to love over the last 30 years, while also adding their own creative dishes to the menu.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare restaurant's signature dishes.
- Create unique dishes for daily specials.
- Label and store food properly.
- Proper inventory management.
- Maintain good and open communication with restaurant owners and management.
- Manage kitchen staff and assure that proper quality control is up-kept.
- Professionalism when supervising other staff members.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Maintain quality assurance and control of the kitchen.
- Maintain health regulation protocols and safety standards.
- Rectify arising problems or complaints.
Skills
- Proven experience working as a head chef.
- Ability to spot and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Excellent record of kitchen management.
- Experience cooking Jamaican foods is a MUST.
