The Senior Office Specialist
This regular full-time position to perform advanced secretarial duties and to direct and participate in administrative support of workflow within the District Attorney’s office. Duties may include direct clerical support to Deputy District Attorneys, supervision of work of lower level office specialists under the general supervision of department management, assistance in training and orientation of new employees, notarizing documents, and other duties as assigned.

For the 2018-19 plan year, the County pays 99% of the monthly premium and employees pay 1% ($15.10 per month) for the Base Plan. With this plan, employees are eligible for a $100 a month contribution into an HRA VEBA account. Buy-up plans are also available. Retirement - PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) contribution is 100% employer funded, which includes both contribution to PERS pension and IAP accounts (IAP contribution is 6% of salary). Short-Term Disability – 100% County paid Life insurance - $6,000 for employee/$2,000 for spouse and children – 100% County Paid. Vacation/Sick Leave - Flexible Earned Time (FET) is a combination of vacation and sick leave. To start, you will earn 12.38 hours per month and future accruals increase based on years of service. After a year of service and depending on FET balance, employees may sell-back up to 40 hours of FET per year.
The Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required in addition to one year of clerical or secretarial work experience at a level equivalent to an Office Specialist II. Course work and training related to the position may substitute for up to six months of experience. Any satisfactory equivalent combination experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work will be considered. Successful completion of a criminal history background check may be required.
The Candidate
The successful candidate in this position must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, be organized, and have skills in general keyboarding and computer use, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office. The candidate must be able to work effectively individually as well as in a team environment, and be able to manage their work with frequent interruptions throughout the day. Experience in a legal office is preferred. Applicants may be required to pass skills tests including typing and document production.
